New guy from south florida
Hello forum Im new to the forum but a exp snake owner, i had a 6 ft bermise python for 4 years. I have recently got a BRB from a friend who couldnt take care of him. At first I was thinking do I really want another snake, but once I seen him and held him I feel in love with him.
I am worried as for his health because my friend who gave me the snake HAD NO HUMIDITY OR HEAT in the tank with no hid spots. only thing in his tank was a water source which was used for drinking and bathing. The snake was active when i held him at his house but has been hiding for 4 days now and i say i think its because he is pealing.
Now i know thr BRB need more humidity in his tank which i have accomplished by adding plants, a moister hide box over the UTH covered with cypress mulch and moss and inside the box i put a moist rag with moss. Pretty much I turned its cage into a mini forest compaired to the empty tank he used to have. thiers so much more i have done like make the screen top in to a pexi-glass top with a few holes in it with a opening for a heat lamp.
I feel like I got the tank to where is should be with humidity but as for heat temp, the cheap type thrmometer is readind 80-85 degrees when my watch thrmometer reads 70-75? Are thies cheap type thrmometer calibratable?
Other than that hes got a forest now to slither around in. I just hope after he sheads he gets more active.
Mike.
P.S if thiers a way to make a home made mister or humidifier plz infor me everthing out that i see hase bad reviews and one of then says it could hurt the reptial because of the emense heat it produdes to vaporize the water. to me that a nogo unless i make a water box for it and make it to where the mist comes out abd snake cant get in. But even those a not built good since all I hear is that they break just like the other ones i read about/
