Re: help identify snake in DFW TEXAS
Texas native anaconda. They live in the flooded forests near the DFW area. It is rumored that the anacondas found in the Amazon were originally from Texas and made it to the Amazon by attaching to the hull of a cruise ship. They are prized for their ivory fangs and have been heavily poached in their entire native range in Texas.

Re: help identify snake in DFW TEXAS
Is it dead?
It's harmless, looks like a natricine of some sort. It's hard to tell without seiing the pattern on the back.
HS you trollin'?

Re: help identify snake in DFW TEXAS
Do you still have access to it? If you do, flipping it over so that we can see the body pattern and head shape would help.

Re: help identify snake in DFW TEXAS
They are also prized in traditional Chinese medicine. A typical specimen like that one can fetch up to US $200,000 on the black market. I sure hope you didn't just leave it out there! Just be careful, the snake emits toxic fumes when it dies. If I'm too late in telling you, you may already be dead. You need a special respirator to harvest them. If you have a local Chinese medicine practitioner, bring the snake in a plastic bag (well sealed of course!) and they will know how to extract the medicinal parts without exposing the toxins.
Pretty nice find, snakesdfw!

Re: help identify snake in DFW TEXAS
Looks kinda like a dead one to me. It also looks like it got chopped about 6" from the head.
