3 Pieces of Living Art!
Hamburg yesterday was a GREAT show. The crowd was enormous, there was good variety this time, my clay artwork was very well recieved, and best of all, some very special snakes came home with us! Early on in cruising around the show a most stunning snake caught my eye... I've always loved Cape Gophers because when they are nice, they are REALLY NICE and in my opinion, one of the most visually stunning snakes in existence. That's why when I spotted this guy I gobbled him right up! I've passed up plenty of cape's over the years and now I am glad I did because this guy is killer. The real challenge down the road will be finding a female that is equally as stunning. But I'll be patient... for now I will just bask in his awesomeness!
Introducing Chuck Norris
So after buying Chuck (for a mere $65, tell me that wasn't deal of the century) I thought I was done roaming for the day and was very happy with my new snake and was showing him off to the crowd as they passed by my table! He attracted lots of attention.
But then my damned husband had this crazy idea... see he has always known since he met me that my basic goal in life was to eventually own Indigos. There just happened to be a few available at the show and since we live in the same state as the seller, there was no hassle of waiting on acquiring a permit! I always ogle at them but I never actually thought I'd be getting them yet, not for a few years! What made it possible is that Hubby is an apprentice electrician and he gets a LOT of scrap metal. He just happened to have a LOT of cash on him from scrapping metal and lo and behold... he brought up the idea of making an offer on a pair of indigos and he told me if they said yes he would buy me a pair. I couldn't even believe what I was hearing!!! I was so geeked I almost couldn't contain myself from throwing him up against my table and doing unspeakable things to him in front of all those people.
So of course since I am writing this blog it's pretty obvious that the breeder accepted the offer and Eddie handed me a huge wad of cash and I GOT A PAIR OF MOTHER EFFING INDIGOS!!!
Let me tell you there is nothing like your first time holding an indigo. And the experience is ten times more thrilling when you know it's YOUR indigo! I am humbled by their awesomeness... their pride, their intelligence, you can just sense it, these snakes are in a league of their own! I bought all new things for them, cages, even ANOTHER set of tongs (I have so many haha) only for use in feeding those two, and of course hideys, bowls, wood and false plants. Anything for my babies!
Eddie's reasoning for deciding to bring home a pair of indigos, besides knowing just how badly I had always wanted them, was knowing that they will always hold their value and that one day when they are all grown up, any offpsring they produce would hold serious value as well and could help fund further growth of our collection and equipment!(Now don't get me wrong, we sure as hell did not buy indigos because they are worth so much money, but it is a nice bonus to know they are a worthy invenstment BESIDES being the most incredible pet snake there is!)
To be honest I would not care less if they never bred, I'm perfectly happy to bask in their glory, but regardless allow me to introduce Hades, the solid black male and Iris, the red throated female!

Really? I was under the impression that they cannot leave the boarder therefore no chance of getting them (legally that is).
