Emperor Scorpion Help

The scorpion I got my friend as an early birthday present is in my care for a while. He's working as many hours as I am, but unlike me, he doesn't have anyone to help him take care of it. He asked me if I'd take it, may or may not be a permanent situation, until his life isn't quite so hectic with work. He's been following a care sheet I printed out for him when I gave it to him, but I did some more research and some of the information on care is conflicting.

Poker (that's it's name lol) is in a 10 gallon tank with this potting soil looking substrate (only about 3 inches deep) that came in blocks. He gave me what he had left but it's out of the wrapper so I'm not sure what it is as I've never used this before. He has a shallow water dish and a hide I have yet to see him enter. I need to go get another digital thermometer/hygrometer tomorrow because he has the little strip one stuck on the cage (useless things). So I'm not sure what his temps are like, but his humidity should be close since my ambient isn't too bad right now. I did spray the soil just in case.

He says it's been about 2 to 3 days since he last offered food (which was mealworms) so I stopped at the store and picked up a few crickets. I only asked for 3 but when I opened the bag about 6 jumped out (I hate crickets). That was several hours ago and there's only one remaining now.

I tried to put some underbelly heat on one side of the cage and he immediately moved to the other side so it's possible it may be too hot and I'll need to adjust things or would top heat be best?

I know nothing about these animals. I doubt my friend knows much more than I do but whatever he's been doing the last month seems to be working lol. Aside from basic husbandry needs, what's some other good info I need to know? I have no plans on handling this creature. He doesn't seem to be aggressive at all, rather laid back and he's cool in his own way. But this is not something I want to work hands on with lol. He's probably about 2 1/2 to 3 inches long excluding his tail combo. I'm not at all sure of his age.

My main concerns with him right now are what temps and humidity that work well with these guys. How often and what should I be feeding him. And how active are these guys? He doesn't seem to move much and he seems to like being against the glass, sometimes he looks like he's trying to crawl up it. When he's still, he lays his tail down. I'm going to assume it's normal although to my uneducated eye he looks dead and it makes me nervous lol.

Even though this isn't my favorite of creatures (I don't care for anything that has more than 4 legs ), I want to make sure I give him the best care I can and maybe pick up some new info to pass along to my friend when/if he decides to take him back (he has a time limit due to my moving...if he can't take him back at that time, I'll take him with me). So any helpful information is most definitely appreciated!
