lizard found in grocery store (Need Help Identifying)

I need help identifying a small lizard that was found in a grocery store.

Its about 4 inch's long, form head to tail.
The body is about 1 ½ inch's long, the rest is just a long skinny tail.
Its a light brown, with some dark brown spots going down its back.
It was also found in tropical fruits, if that helps.

Don't have any pictures right now, but will get some asap.

Thanks.
(Sorry I don't got much info right now just got it, trying to figure out as much as I can. I live in canada, so I'm assuming he is close to death form long travel, lack of food and colder weather up here.)

I'm also pretty scared to pick him up, don't want to hurt him at all. Can somebody inform me on how to handle small reptiles.

Thanks.

Pictures will help.

Anoles have been known to hitch rides in produce.

My guess is an anole or a house gecko. Pictures would be great.

If the little bugger is:
1) very active, try to "herd" it into a large deli container;
2) bit active, then try to get it to walk onto your hand or into a container;
3) not terribly active at all (quite possible if cold ordehydrated) gently grasp it around the middle part of its body to pick it up.

Not in Canada..

Anoles cannot survive much further north than Georgia, I think the extreme lower part of South Carolina at best.

Drop it off at the pet store, feed it to another of his animals or take it to the local schools science lab.

checker pattern down the back oh kinda like two lines just on either side of center line... definitely a green Anole...typically they stay brown when stressed...my 13 year old has 2 of them...one has been brown since we got him while the other is a bright green...
