Feeding question ?
My royal is now on two f/t rat fluffs, last night was the third time Iv'e fed her two, and the last couple of feeds she ate both. Last night she ate the first, I gave it a minute or two gave her the second. She hit it, wrapped around it and then went into her hide, i waited a couple if minutes and removed it.
Should i just have left it or did I do the right thing ?

Re: Feeding question ?
I usually leave mine in there for a few minutes (10-15 at least). It isn't unusual for both of my ball python and my RTB to constrict and "kill" their prey, then leave it on the bottom of their cage for a few minutes before finally eating it.

Re: Feeding question ?
I would say leave it for about 1hr or so. Maybe she just wasn't ready to eat it or you spooked her with a noise, light or smell.

Re: Feeding question ?
She probably doesn't want to be exposed in that vulnerable state. She can't defend herself with a mouthful of rat. I would say leave it and maybe turn off any bright lights in the room.

Re: Feeding question ?
My Sand Boas are notorious for striking, constricting, then letting go and retreating under the bedding. I usually leave it in their cage for about an hour, if they haven't eaten it, i give it one more jiggle, and that's usually the time they will eat it.

Re: Feeding question ?
I get my snakes to grab their meals and then leave them for the night. I won't check on them or take it prior to the morning. Sometimes they take a little while to eat and honestly it doesn't seem to do any harm. Just never leave a dead rodent over or under a heat source.

Re: Feeding question ?
Thanks, I sort of thought if I left it, it might stress her, shes been a great eater and I don't want to do anything to change that.
cheers
