Chinese Water Dragon Food?

I'm looking for some different food choices for my CWD. He currently weighs 62 grams and is about a foot long (including tail). He eats crickets and meal worms like a champ, but I like to mix it up.

So I need help on:
Fruits/Veggies (can you feed them bananas? I heard that reptiles will become addicted to them?)
Fish/Shrimp/Snails (heard cherry shrimp was good, can you buy it at any pet store? and how do you know if they are clean?)
Different feeder insects that will boost his weight
and can I feed him the meal worm beetles?

sorry about the thousand questions.

Re: Chinese Water Dragon Food?

I would take him off mealworms totally and switch him to supers, crickets, and dubia for protein. If you really want to you can feed OCCASIONAL wax worms and one he gains another 66 inches then a pinky a month. Go very light with those last two foods because he will get fatty liver disease if fed to often. For fruits/veggies you want mainly veggies and I recommend "spring mix" (dandelion greens et cetera). You can feed a tiny bit of banana once a week along with strawberries and stuff. Fruits are really only treats. I do not know about the other stuff. Ask Wayne he should know.

He's on Crickets ill be picking up some Supers tomorrow and there is no way my girlfriend will allow any kind of cockroach in the house haha (already tried). I can only feed him a pinky when hes 5 ft, 6in?.....you said 66 inches so I'm confused I don't even think they can get that big. Also I have no idea where to get dandelion greens, I have tried feeding him almost every type of fruit I have he wont eat any of them haha.
and who is Wayne?

I'm guessing she meant 6 inches. Also I pick dandelion greens out of my yard. (I know some people don't agree with that, but I live in the middle of nowhere with no pesticides anywhere) and Wayne is the moderator of this forum (infernalis)
