Big update; big week

I was thinking last night that this had been the biggest week for us with our snakes since we got our rack built. Lots of stuff going on.

1) We brought home our Burm baby, Malaki after a week and a half of getting his tub set up just right.
2) Jerome (my JCP) ate after a nearly 3 month fast.
3) Jethro (or Gibbs, depends who you ask) ate two rat fuzzies, defecated and shed all in 24 hours time.
4) Malaki ate for us for the first time.
5) All the rest of the snakes ate well for us again.

It's fun getting to know the different personalities. Our boa, Mario, eats whatever you give him, whenever you give it to him. Yet when it's not feeding time he's completely calm and laid back. Two of the BPs (Kensi and Sidney) are just as good of eaters and Sid is just as laid back to handle. Kensi is still new so she's not getting handled much as she settles in.

The three other BPs are all secretive feeders. They won't eat with us standing there but prefer us to leave theirs in the tubs overnight but they've always eaten so far. I really would prefer to have them strike feed but they're pups yet so hopefully they'll liven up as time goes by.

So yea, I'm pretty stoked about our critters just now.

So what's been going on in your collection?

Re: Big update; big week

Lots going on there Norm. As you know I'm a new owner and very much a novice, but with Princess her first three feeds I thawed the fuzzy and offered it at room temp, she took them but was slow to strike, her last two feeds Iv'e given the fluff a blast with a hair dryer and as soon as I introduce them into her viv they're gone, no hesitation, no muss no fuss. Might be worth a try big guy.

There's quite a bit going on at your place, huh? All of it good news though. I'm especially glad that Jerome and Malaki ate for you.

Not much on my end... My snakes came home to me this past Sunday (from their Winter home) and Pika ate on Tuesday. Kaybe will eat this weekend. Nothing exciting

Re: Big update; big week

My BP and GTP both shed this week.. not the best sheds
My BP and BCI both poops its a feat when the boa poops because she only does so once a month
My GTP had a growth spurt she is still eating hoppers but they went from being 1.5x her width to being the same width so in another few months its time to bump her up again her pattern is also changing the marks on her back are connected by a hazy brown line

Not much going on my end, though one of my Male Kenyans did start eating again after being off food for a few months. I still have 2 adult males that are still off food, due to wanting the ladies, but i expect them to start up again soon.

The babies are still chowing down like there's no tomorrow, one of the normals actually did a vertical leap out of his enclosure, latched onto the large pinky while it was still in the hemostats, and wrapped his lower half of his body around the hemostats. Had to gently slide him off to keep him from eating the hemostats as well, lol

Re: Big update; big week

Swany, I use hot water to heat them up at the last. They're probably about 105 or so I've never shot them with my heat gun but I will next time. Cool how it makes a difference for Princess. It might be partly that and partly her feeling more comfortable too the longer she's home with you.

Alessia, I think getting back to your babies is pretty big news. LOl

Ladubug, I'm weirdly looking forward to the big poops that are to come. They're all so puny now. LOL. I think I saw your pics of your GTP's color change (if that wasn't you I apologize), very neat.

KK- that must have been funny to see. I like when they're enthusiastic. My friend's KSB male is a bit of a finicky eater for her too. He likes to go into a feeding box and be left alone. Different strokes eh?

Thanks Chuck.

Re: Big update; big week

Well I myself have had a busy couple of weeks. Unfortunately I found someone capable of taking care of striker so he has found a new home. The same person also took blossom in. On a brighter note I have ordered in a male albino 66% het anery, 2 female salmon het albinos and 3 female salmon het albino 66% het anery! Also it looks like a pet store in Halifax maybe buy their frozen rodents from me. Oh and I helped two locals get their snakes switched over to f/t and my local pet chain hired a new Reptile guy that I really don't like so I haven't been helping there as much.
