Re: munson plan equivalent for rats??
yes I can do that. We base our size chart on the rodentpro standard.
Pinkies are 3-8g
Fuzzies are 9-19g
Pups are 20-29g
Weaners are 30-44g
Smalls are 45-84g
Mediums are 85-174g
Larges are 175-274g
X Larges are 275-374g
XX Larges are 375-474g
XXX Larges are 475-600g+
By using this standard we avoid all confusion when it comes to determining what people want when they place their orders.

Re: munson plan equivalent for rats??
I try to market mine by weight but people here really don't understand feeding by weight.

Re: munson plan equivalent for rats??
I won't really market it by weight rather than by designation (pinky, fuzzy, ect....) but having the weights allows me to know which bag to put each one in on cull day!!

Re: munson plan equivalent for rats??
Weight is a really good way to market cause a four hundred gram rat is always going to be a four hundred gram rat where as you medium could be my small and exwizards large........ just saying.

Re: munson plan equivalent for rats??
I get it. I am re-organizing the rodent freezer and Plan to have a bag for each designation, which will have the weight range for that designation written on the bag as well (ie: XX lrg 375-474G) Now if the customer wants a 400G, I'll weigh them up to get the closest I can for him, no problem!!

Re: munson plan equivalent for rats??
Now don't get too crazy! It is okay to be dedicated to your customer but weighing them again to get on close to requested weight? If you plan on doing that take the time to tag them before you freeze them so you just have to grab that weight range and check the tags.

Re: munson plan equivalent for rats??
~I~ have no clue whatsoever what weight the prey items are that i feed, because i get to dig through the freezer at the shop and choose what i want i do it all by size compared to my hand

Depends on size and species, rabbits (weanling and older) and chickens have their necks snapped. Anything smaller gets CO2.

That's how I always did it too. What I am trying to do is to get my customers used to weight instead. U ordered in 20 medium rats for someone and they were too big for some of her snakes. So I had small rats for me that I sold her instead.
