The beginning of the end...

This freakin sucks!!!

This is the first step guys...expect there to be A LOT more legislation thrown at us now... knowing that they can get away with it..... wont be long before we see retics... boas... and then ball pythons added to that list.... snakes in general will be attacked soon and then they will move onto other reptiles and eventually other animals... this is their agenda.
do not be fooled into thinking this bill is about environmental impact or "dangerous" pets. It's not. It's about a loud group of people forcing their way onto others....

I think that might be a bit of an over reaction mate... Somehow I don't think they are going to shut down a multi billion dollar pet trade industry on the cry of a few loud voices. I really don't see a govt giving up that kind of money....

Re: The beginning of the end...

I agree with red ink here. It generates far too much income for them to outright ban everything.

I don't like the "slipper slope to all snakes being banned" argument. Purely because pitbulls are banned in a lot of areas and yet since then they haven't banned all other dogs. There's not even a peep about it to my knowledge so as it stands the "slippery slope" doesn't have a leg to stand on.

It don't really matter which government (from the US democratic govt to an African dictatorship), government stay in governance with money. They ain't about to euthanise a cash cow just because some people are unhappy... If that was the case they would have your tax payments

You maybe right, but I'm not completely convinced.

Mate, I'm sure they will try and appease the animal liberation front and the scared masses. I would'nt be suprised if they propose a ban a few more species here and there. I would be worried if I was a large varanid owner/enthusiast let's put it that way...

Re: The beginning of the end...

Well, I want to keep and breed red tail boas some day and that's one of the snakes they want to ban.
