Was that a rhino or a gaboon?

Re: Steady Bronx Zoo Herpin'

I thought it looked like a rhinocerous viper. I wish I had a picture of them side by side.

Re: Steady Bronx Zoo Herpin'

Bitis gabonica (gabbies)

Bitis nasicornis (Rhino Viper)

Also bitis gabonica rhinoceros is a sub species of the West African Gaboon Viper, only difference would be the slightly larger nasal horns (scales) then bitis gabonica.

So to answer your question your looking at a Gaboon Viper.

Both the Rhino and Gaborone are out-of-this-world gorgeous!
