Is it corn breeding season??

I went to feed all my snakeys \nd found my Okeetee females had somhow made it out of her tub, and into one of my Amel males tubs. Pulled it out of the rack and there she was curled up with him curled around her.

They could not have been together for more than 1 day, becuase I check them every night (at least) and she was in her own tub night before last.

The breeder I am working with said unbrumated corns breed in the end of jan, on into feb. Do you think she went in there to breed?? And how do I tell if they did mate without witnessing a lock?

you will just have to wait and see if your females gravid

as far as breeding season goes,i just introduced my male jungle jaguar,with my female diamond jungle an hour ago

How did she escape out of her enclosure and into his?? That means both enclosures are not escape-proof. That's kind of worrisome

My experience is they will do it anytime of the year if there happy and fat and in my case 5 minutes and there stuck together... good way to sex snakes

Hmmmm - make sure you found out HOW she did it so that you can prevent further escapes!!

Yes, were looking into that!! until then, the lids have gone back on.

lol okay i know you don't mean it this way...but does that mean the lids weren't ON? lol I mean...that would explain a lot...lol

Rack system.. We don't have lids on either cause they usually don't fit with the lids. But your rack should be tight enough to have to pull a little for it to come out..

Exactly. If you have sufficient air/ventilation holes around the sides of the tub then you really do not need to leave a few mm's at the top like some people think.

yes it is a fully enclosed rack system (in a closing cabinet), our house gets quite cold at night so being able to close the cupboard doors helps hold the heat in.

we did leave the few mm's at the top according to instructions so the bins slide in without lids. there are aslo ventilation holes in each tub.

I am thinking of either lining each shelf with that really thin corrugated plastic board to make up for the couple of mm's so the bins fits more snugly, or maybe get hubby to install the J brackets so the tubs hang snug from the bottom of each shelf.

this is my first rack system, built when I got my 3'rd snake since I only have the 2 tanks (and no room for more!!) So I guess we still have to "tinker" with it.

So will she get noticably bigger (fatter) before laying the eggs, or do I put the laying box in at about 29 days after this "coupling" happened?? I know they are supposed to lose thier appetite as the eggs inside get bigger and then she is supposed to shed before and after laying. But I would rather just know when to add the brood box and also when to take out her large water dish and give her a small one so she doesn't lay her eggs in water.

A bit of Duct Tape on the bottom of the tubs at the low spots will take care of any gap as well, and it is generally slick enough to still slide easily. Just build it up until you have a snug fit.
