Almost bought this rat snake
We had it in the cart, and were on paypal...but $50 in shipping! blah. I totally love'em, but I think we decided to wait for the reptile show in January, in Pamona.
Haven't had a rat snake before, though I do have an ornery, greedy little corn snake that I adopted. She's fussy and doesn't like to be held. I take her out to feed her and she tried to get away, until she sees the mouse...then she just starts eating it *LOL* She hasn't struck since I got her, about a month and a half ago at least. Fed her a lot at first, since she was so small and skinnyish. Now it's once a week.
Anyway, i guess waiting for the show is best, if i want to handle it and see it's attitude, right? aww

Re: Almost bought this rat snake
Repti basics has great racks and there snakes are beautiful. I just got a couple blue eyed lucustic rat snakes and I can tell you they have an attitude lol and they aren't afraid of biting. I love them but be prepared to get defensive bites. Granted mine are adults and who knows how they were treated and I would assume repti basics are well cared for.

Re: Almost bought this rat snake
Trans pecos rats usually have very good temperaments. Even in the wild they have good temperaments, you can just pick up a wild one and it usually won't bite.

Re: Almost bought this rat snake
The 1st baby rat I found in my yard (on my house actually) has always been docile, the most recent one (a little bigger) was aggressive at 1st but seems to have calmed down...
