Ball pythons locking together?
Hey guys, So this is my first time breeding, And today was the day i introduced my male Pastel with my female spider. Its been about 4 hours and they seem very interested (Male is crawling all over female, Female keeps following male around ECT) So i was wondering how long it usually takes before they lock up?
Chris.

I dont know about BP's or if they are different in this regard, but with corns, you intruduce them for about a half hour/day for a 5 day span, and they will most likely have locked a few times by then. My buddy uses this method gets successful clutches (in corns) all the time!

Re: Ball pythons locking together?
Duno balls, but with retics I've had to wait weeks sometimes, and sometimes the male gets tossed in with the female and all of a sudden before you close the viv hes all over her with his peens out and the job gets done.

Re: Ball pythons locking together?
1. A balls' spurs are always out. They don't retract like Wolverines claws.
2. They lock up anywhere from an hour to six days in my experiences.

...I really don't like these kind of remarks, even if they're meant jokingly...
