Re: do you guys feed on substrate?
Use a dinner plate/Frisbee to avoid substrate ingestion.

Re: do you guys feed on substrate?
I feed my garters all their sticky fish and worms right there on the substrate. But i use those big chunks of bark called ReptiBark, and i tong feed small peices that don't really touch the ground anyway, that works for me.. sometimes i'll just set my snakes on the desk or something and feed them.
My concinnus doesn't have a problem with substrate.... he goes here every feeding.

Re: do you guys feed on substrate?
I use Reptile Bark and feed them in their cages. With my snake i just open the door and hold the rat by the tail. Mine all nail them before the rats can hit the cage floor.

I use to feed my Bps on paper towels because I use coconut fiber substrate, however I recently had to fish a long string of it out of his mouth. Now I either feed on a tub with nothing at all or I feed on newspaper.
Personally, I really like the news paper because clean up is much easier in case your snake explodes a feeder.

Re: do you guys feed on substrate?
judging by location I'm assuming this was directed at the owners of larger snakes, (burms, retics, and african rocks)

Re: do you guys feed on substrate?
I use newpaper now so no issues. But I used to use aspen as a substrate and I always fed in their cages on the aspen. Never had an issue, there was a couple of times they would get a piece of aspen in their mouth and when they did they would just spit it out themselves.

Re: do you guys feed on substrate?
I feed my BP in his cage, but I also use reptile bark and have no problems. I feed my red-tailed boa in a cardboard box or on a cleaned floor and sanitize it afterwords.
