anyone ever think of this?

Ok so I was on eBay and came across this...
Fresh Boa Constrictor Snake Skin Shed Snout to Tail Tip | eBay
And wondered after seeing a bunch like it maybe I'm missing out on some easy cash. my hubby is wondering how we would ship them safely I'm guessing stretch it out dry it then roll it up?

Hmmm...

I just played with Sasha’s shed. She shed hers in a perfect coil. If I wanted to stretch it out I would have to lay it on a towel on a flat surface and lightly mist it, let it sit for a couple of minutes so the water can rehydrate the skin and then gently stretch it. Otherwise it will tear. Then leave it out to finish drying completely before shipping.

On shipping it, I would gently coil it back up and find a tiny box that the shed would fit inside of securely. Place that box inside a larger box with thick layers of bubble wrap to prevent it from being jostled in transit.

Later today I can play with the shed and see how all this works and get back to you. It would be extremely cool if we could make some cash on the side doing this.

Re: anyone ever think of this?

Some people would probably love a big shed hanging on the wall
in a game room / bar /den.

Re: anyone ever think of this?

how strange, I doubt Nero's sub 2ft shed is worth anything though.

Re: anyone ever think of this?

I have wrapped sheds around a pencil which turns out surprisingly cool... and many other things... But I still don't know who would want them.

Re: anyone ever think of this?

I didn't realize there was a market for shed skins. And some people think us reptile keepers are the odd ones...

Re: anyone ever think of this?

TONS of snake shed auctions on eBay, not a single bid on ANY of them. That "market" you speak of must be somewhere else.

Re: anyone ever think of this?

I'm sorry but I wasn't able to mess with Sasha's shed as I said I would. I was at the vets from 7 til past noon. Going there is worse than seeing MY doc. Speaking of which, Sasha's in shed mode. Figures she would pick the time when I have to clean her cage. Poor Ole girl. I will see about the shed Monday or so.

Haha mykee see to me once I see that the shed has the eye caps I toss them. I have saved one for my daughters science teacher but I really never thought anyone would be interested in them. Um not surprised no one has bid on them but not sure if its cause they are crazily priced hell I'd be happy ro get a couple of bucks.

Re: anyone ever think of this?

Anything ten feet or bigger i bet would sell pretty easy. I mean how cool would a 15 foot snake skin in a man cave or den hanging on the wall look?
