sliding glass tracks?

So im almost done building my retic cage, but the only thing is i can't find anything that would work for the sliding lexan pieces. lexan is like plexi glass but stronger. you can almost bend this stuff in half and it doesnt snap. anyway, i cant find tracks for it to go on or im just not looking in the right places. i know somebody on here has had to of built a cage with sliding doors so what did you guys use?

Be careful with that stuff. We originally used it for a retic cage for a 12 footer, he bent it and tried to get through the gap... Got stuck and later died from internal damage.

Lexan IS flexible, if you go that route, use whatever you're making the rest of the viv out of to make a border to reinforce it. You'll have to order online as not many commercial places stock lexan. Where are ya at? If you're not too far I could split the cost with ya as myself and a buddy need to make new spoilers for our race cars and were gonna use 3/8" lexan.

Re: sliding glass tracks?

well miller im in michigan and there is this place that my dad goes in grand rapids and they sell and cut the lexan for you. the pieces of lexan i need are two 3 1/2ft x 23inches because my cage is only 6ft x 3ft so hopefully they arnt 2 flexible but i seen this girl using aluminum chanel for the sliding tracks i could also buy thicker lexan so it wouldnt be as flexible.

Re: sliding glass tracks?

Oh, I couldn't find much for door tracks, but I did find this:

From the Rockler website:

4 Foot Plastic Sliding Door Track
4 Foot Plastic Sliding Door Track - Rockler Woodworking Tools

Hardwood Track and Upper Guide
Hardwood Track and Upper Guide - Rockler Woodworking Tools

E-Z Glide Tracks
E-Z Glide Tracks - Rockler Woodworking Tools

Sorry, But I use acrylic hinges and hasp for my vivarium doors.

Re: sliding glass tracks?

even a small brace would greatly lessen the chance she'll try and push her way out. 3/8ths is pretty sturdy stuff.
