Of all the interests/hobbies I wish I'd done, this is the #1! I found out there's a lot more falconers than you'd expect. Keep us informed on how it "flies".

hey dom there used to be though i dont know if there still is ,a lady near Marmora Ont. that gave falconery classes and you could purchase your birds right from her as chicks so that she taught you and you taught the bird right from the very beginning. as i said i dont know if shes still there but it might be worth looking into.good luck i too was very interested in this untill i fell into herps.

Thats something that my dad has always kinda been interested in - but it's illegal in the state of Kansas... I guess that makes my input completly useless :P I do love to say that a Pregrin (spelling... I can't spell) Falcon is native here... ^^;;

Falconry classes teach you how to handle and hunt with a falcon.

lol - Honestly .. its not for hunting but simply to broden my knoledge and interest... I would not keep a falcon as i lack spece but since we have a huge forugenous hawk at work, i have taken quite the interest in them .. theres no cooler feeling than holding a 3 pound bird on you hand! Although riding a camel, touchin lion cubs or gettin a hug by a rock lemur was pretty kool too!
Although nothing beats holding or tackling down a large crocodilian!

I can't help but think of a Far Side Cartoon from years ago....
The Falconer's Picnic on one side of a stand of trees, and the Yorkshire Terriers Club Picnic on the other.
Check out these two pages as well. They're U.S. sites, but might have some info you can use.
Falconry Page
Modern Falconry............. Everything you need to know.
