New snake enclosure, and heat question.

So, due to some aggression between our Leo's, I had to get another enclosure for my corn snake. I got a clear plastic container the is about 28"x17"x6" LxWxH and set her up in it. I used Aspen shavings for the bedding and put all the hides and water bowl that was in her 20 gal long cage. I am going to start using reptibark when I get the money as I don't like the way the aspen looks. I drilled small holes around the top and around the edge of the lid. I have it sitting on top of the 40 gal breeder that houses one of the Leo's propped up on some strips of wood so it will not cover up the screen on the 40 gal. Here is what it looks like.

I have a thermometer in the tub and it is holding at about 85 to 87 degrees F just sitting next to the heat lamps from the other cage. I am wondering if it would be ok to put a UTH on the tub and if I should. This was kind of an emergency move and I didn't have the money to go all out on it yet. Thanks for the feedback. And just for fun, a few more pics of the enclosure.

Re: New snake enclosure, and heat question.

UTH will work on these containers very well. Also a word of warning, on the sides of the lid in the center, is a weak point that if the snake pushes on he can get out. I have put a bolt in the tub part of the container and a hole in the lid and then pop the lid over the bolt. This keeps them from being able to push the lid up. Here are a few pictures of it.

Re: New snake enclosure, and heat question.

Thank you very much for the info. And good to know about that problem too. I don't think my corn is strong enough to do that yet, but you never know. I will definitely address that issue soon as well.

Oh yeah, and welcome to the forum SSSSnakes.
