Escaped rabbit!!
well the dogs and I have been on a merry chase for the last 45 mins, with nothing to show for it!!
One of my fryer rabbits escaped his pen!! Anyways, my husky x, my terrier and I did our very best to re-capture him, but alas........nothing!!
We were sooooooo very close twice, boy is my little terrier good at flushing!! If she weren't so damn noisy, we'd take her hunting!!
So we still have a rabbit on the run, when I catch my breath and maybe give the bunny some time to come out his excellent hiding spot then the dogs and I will give it another go!!

Re: Escaped rabbit!!
good luck catching him! I understand how hard it is to catch a rabbit in the house, my sister has one and it got out of its old cage a few times before i built a new one

Re: Escaped rabbit!!
If it helps, don't make eye contact or walk in a str8 line to them. I showed miles a few years back how you can walk "right" up to a wild rabbit, and if you avoid eye contact and mosey around towards the animal making frequent stops, you can walk right up to them and pick them up, they will play dead till you touch them then explode away, grab em quick and pretty hard and watch out for the nails. I've never had one try and bite.

Re: Escaped rabbit!!
lol!! mine have never tried to bite, although I've gotton a few good gouges down my arms. We've had a few get out and so far have caught them all, usually it is because hubby left a pen door open. This time the wire door was literally bowed out like he clawed his way through!!, guess hubby will have to reinforce it!! Still haven't caught the little bugger, sometimes the dogs are more hindrance than help!! But we'll get him.

Re: Escaped rabbit!!
i have 4 rabbits myself, and if ive learnt anything from having them its that they will react to your movements and to there food. best bet is to leave out a bowl full of food, give it 30 mins and your rabbit will be munching, at this point u wanna try to get behind it so that if it bolts again, it will run towards the place u want it to go (always handy to have a small net in front of the rabbit for it to go into) and with any luck, u will have ur rabbit bk pretty quickly.
good luck and all the best

Re: Escaped rabbit!!
thx guys, problem was that where he was hidden, I couldn't get behind him!! But after hubby got home, both of us and the terrier went back out and finally caught him!! So he's back in his pen and hubby has added an extra latch to the door for now and will reinforce the whole thing come the weekend!!
