Ibd

Spider balls are on my wish list so when i saw an add for free adult male spider ball python i got really excited.... except this person thinks it is showing early signs of IBD ! My question is what would be early signs and how would one assume if the bp is eating well?

Re: Ibd

Are you sure it was IBD and not just the spider wobble?

Re: Ibd

"Spider wobble", not IBD. The sky is not falling.

Re: Ibd

as has been said most likely to be the spider neurological condition they ALL seem to suffer from (mykee will be able to tell you more)

from what i know its similar to the jaguar carpet python neurological issue

with jag's it can be anything from, very mild very slight hard to notice head wobbles,to doing full corkscrews around its tank or anything inbetween.

some of our ball enthuisiasts and keepers will be able to give you an idea of the extent of the spider neuro issue and how it is likely to affect the snake in general

cheers shaun

Re: Ibd

Yup. All spiders, whether it's a shudder when excited for food, or full-on loop de loops, ALL spiders have some degree of wobble.

Re: Ibd

is this evident in a young snake or does it happen gradually or later in life? Hubby is leary about me even going to see this snake as he knows i would be devistated if i put my other snakes at risk!

Re: Ibd

Quarantine the new animal for 9 months, and wash after handling any new animal.
