Trip to the vets
Soo, I took out my little girl bci to clean her viv etc, and I noticed one side of her mouth is open slightly.. I had a look at it for abit and went online to look for something similer.. Found nothing but I think its either a birth defect I havnt spotted when checking her out originally( unlikely).... mouth rot (equally I wouldnt know where it came from) or shes hurt it.. But shes only eaten once and I didnt see anything wrong then..
Anyways ive already booked appointment for 11.10am tomorrow with an exotic vet.. Stressing and worrying till then.. Im also worried about keeping her warm on the hour trip each way...

Re: Trip to the vets
Easiest way is to keep her warm is park the car in the sun (to warm the seats) and then put her in a snake bag, wrapped in a towel and put that on the seat on the way to the vet, or use a heat pack. Make sure she doesn't cook.
Good luck but it sounds like something I wouldn't worry about too much.

Re: Trip to the vets
The cost probably wont be bad at all, if its a good vet they will know what they are looking at.

Re: Trip to the vets
$50 to be seen by our exotic vet. not bad. Truth be told It would probably be more expensive to bring your dog or cat. Hot water in soda bottles is a great way to maintain heat for vet trips. That is what we do. They shouldn't have a problem letting you refill there, either. Ours told us they passed that idea around after we did it haha. If you go for the bottle method just make sure you put them in something (10 gal tank, rubbermaid tub whatever) so that they don't move around. Oh and put a towel over the bottles. They can be quite hot. We use a ten gal and it buckles in nicely in the middle of the back seat. Cover the whole think with a towel too. Darkness will help with stress.

Re: Trip to the vets
She could have just hurt it. I'm no vet so I don't know. DON'T STRESS UNTIL YOU HAVE FACTS! My fiance does it. Bombards her mind with "what-if's" and gets herself all worked up. Just chill. You noticed it. You made the appointment. You're doing great so far :-D

Totally agree - "what-if's" arent worth ****. All they do is get you more and more wound up. just deal with facts - the snake has an issue, you noticed it, you have an appointment - there is nothing else you can do until the vet has told you whats wrong.
Good luck! And let us know what happens.

Re: Trip to the vets
hey.. I just got back from birmingham vets. Apparently her bottom jaw hinge has popped out,of place slightly. The vet says hopefully it will pop back in on its own, as she tried and couldnt do it.. If not then its opperation time when shes bigger its not broken or damaged either.. Atleast its not a bactirial or viral infection.

Well that's good news. It should pop back next time she eats.

I bet that would do the trick, because her jaw would stretch open wider making it easier to pop back.
