Switching food while in shed?

So my Smokey has always been fed live foods by the previous owners and I just continued but now I want to switch over to frozen and with today being his feeding day I could do that, however, he is in shed right now so I'm not sure if this is a good time. Got any advice?

Re: Switching food while in shed?

Keep offering F/T once every 7-10 days, if he doesn't take it just throw it out or offer it to another snake and try again next week. Don't give up.
There is nothing wrong with holding the prey item with tongs and jiggling it around a bit.

One of mine has ate right before he shed. It just depends on the snake, alot wont accept prey live or dead when in shed. But for your question, theres nothing wrong with it... Just do exactly like ^Stephan said keep offering be patient.

Re: Switching food while in shed?

some of my snakes eat when in shed others don't

imo the easiest way to change from live to frozen is by offering fresh killed prey

then once they are eating fresh killed prey regular try frozen/thawed

if its a NEW snake i would NOT offer any prey it refuses to other snakes in your collection

new snakes require a quarantine period to make sure they are 100% in good health

cheers shaun
