I have only just joined this forum and was asked to upload some pictures - so the only image I have with me at the moment is of an adult Biak. Typical of that island morph he is large and not slow to react with enthusiasm to any intrusion into his space. I use Procages for all of my Chondros. All the snakes are housed individually in 60cm cubes and heat is provided by 25watt cassettes ( also from Procages ) mounted in the ceiling of the cage. They have access to two full width perches mounted beneath the heaters at different heights and I am a recent convert to the deep litter system. Lighting is from small fluorescent tubes which give a very discreet and gentle light but should they wish the snakes can escape the illumination beneath artificial foliage.
The snakes are fed every 10 days or so on young rats or adult mice depending on personal preference and usually by ( very long) tongs. One animal refuses to accept food in this manner so will take dead mice off a saucer.

how have you found procages ?

are they made by the guy that used to own rhino viv's ?

Pro-cages Plastic reptiles cages PVC RD 12mm - Home
and they have transformed my snakes. I have tried a number of different designs and these are the best I have used. They are made of a dense black plastic like MDF and hold heat and humidity well. They come with toughened glass panels and locks and the heating cassette is excellent; at only 25 watts they are very safe ( unlike some of the heaters on the market) require no ugly guards and can be easily fastened to the top of the cage. They cost 55 euros. I leave an air gap between the heater and the cassette but as the heat emission is unidirectional that is probably not needed. They are encased in black plastic so simply disappear into the background and to prevent the entry of inquisitive heads I seal around the edges with black plastic moulding. The cages are sealed with aquarium sealer to make them water-tight and then I use the deep litter system.

Beautiful chondro, and welcome to the forum. I have an old male Biak that's a total puppydog. My two female Biaks I had in the past were both very tame as well. Maybe I just got lucky?

its only morelia i keep and in the near future hope to aquire something like these procages for my diamond pythons (eventually for all my carpets)

a friend of mine uses rhino viv's and he thinks quite highly of them

i favoured herptek in the past but with all these new companys making hard plastic viv's my options are forever expanding

problem i keep encountering is i spend all my spare cash on new morelia so keep putting off buying new viv's

next year should see my collection pretty much complete then i can start saving for decent viv's to house them in.

at present i'm using vivexotic flat pack viv's which are good but won't last anywhere near as well as your type of viv
