hello and heeelp!
Hey everyone, long time reader frst time poster!
So a little about me, I'm 25yrs old, I have been around wild snakes my whole life, I've had a handful of corn snakes, a cali king , and when I was 18 I had my red tail. I had the red tail for about 6 months before I joined the army and had to give him up as my first station was hawaii. (Strict no snake zone lol)
I'm now in el paso texas and on my way out of the service and looking at a few options...
I was considering a spotted or an IJ python as well as a few boas....
I'm very interested in an IJ however I'm not sure on any local breeders or pricing.
If anyone knows some good breeders id love some info! Also any other feedback on recommendations etc plz post it up
Blake

Re: hello and heeelp!
So my wife has remained mostly steadfast against snakes, and me spending a lot of money on one. But I recently found a deal I managed to talk her into after selling some car parts to pay for it.
I found a 2yr old, approx 3-3 1/2 foot ball python with 55gal tank, heater, dish all the goodies for 100 so I grabbed him.
Supposedly he's a male, but idk, from what I read his bod seems more in profile with a female.
Either way, super docile, very good with handling and a great eater so far.
I will prolly either try to find a nice morphed to pair or sell him later on and go after the ij or jungle carpet. Hey I survived 29 months of hell and finally on my way outta the army, I think the wife can wiggle a little :P

Hello and I salute you for your time in the army. Thank you for risking yourself to keep us and the country safe!
Also congrats on your new addition. Ball pythons are good for helping people come around to snakes- they are calm, slow and docile and don't get too big. I'm sure your wife will come around.

You know that's what I thought too. I mean she didn't start dating me until. Had joined the army so when we got together I was living in hawaii and the only reason I didn't own any was because of state laws. I told her a few months back when ifound out id be discharged because of injuries that I wanted to breed snakes while I go to school for the nxt few years she flipped.
I hoped the ball would calm her down and she could see that not all snakes are hostile giant baby killers, but sure enough she complains about him 24/7. Everytime I let him out of his cage in my "man-cave" so he can stretch out and get some exercise she freaks out and yells about it -_- on a brighter note my boys LOVE him (2 and 6) they are always asking when we get to go to the pet store to get snake food lol. If it was up to them id be he owner of one fat overfed ball lol

Re: hello and heeelp!
Hey everyone, So im all setup now on the Carpets.......I may get another ball later on to breed with my female , maybe not, but I am definitely going to look into some Green Tree's now that I have the jungles i wanted....
Anyhow, heres a quick pic of Sheila, ill get some more tomorow as im going to be taking some pics of the three of them with an actual camera....
She isnt anything special, but shes super friendly and very great to handle so that alone wins her a spot in my heart, and my kids absolutely love her.
