BPs not eating

OK so we bought 2 bp's a few weeks back both babies and they still haven't eaten. Now I know.that they can be picky and go long periods without eating but I can't help but be concerned. We have tried fuzzy mice both alive and dead plus pink rats. Is there anything else I can try? We really don't want them starving to death

Re: BPs not eating

a couple weeks isn't long for snakes to stop eating. when you got them have you left them alone for a week or two to reduce stress? if you've been handling since day 1 that could be a good reason for them to not be eating. bp's get stressed pretty easily, i'm lucky mine eats like a savage.

Re: BPs not eating

I take it they are housed separately? Are you comfortable that all the husbandry is spot on? As the Tninja said have they had settling time?

How long is a few weeks? Seems like you have tried lots of different things when quite likely all they need is a little time. KEep a regular schedule - just spot clean and change water until they eat and only try feeding every 7 days. You may need to start them on mice but personaly i would JUST try feeding rat pinks every 7 days until they decide to eat.

This is all presuming that they arent losing weight or condition - if this happened i would be getting them checked out to make sure there is no reason for them not eating.

Just for reference my 6 month old BP recently went 12 weeks without eating.

Re: BPs not eating

Keep trying the rat pinkies (it can be a nightmare to switch them from mice later). Like previous posts keep contact to a minimum and dont present them with food too often. Once a week is fine. Make sure they have hides that they are useing as they will want to feel secure while digesting. Be patient. there metabolism is designed for irregular feeding so as long as there not loseing weight or condition they will be fine.

I got a pair of BP's a month ago and they have yet to feed. They are both active and in amazing condition I know they will eat for me It just takes time.
