Re: res

If hes 9 years old you probably know the basics. They LOVE chasing tadpoles if you can find some.

Re: res

yup they do need uvb , so if you havent got some you should , after 9 years you just thought to research now? Male or female , a res should have 10 gallons of tank for every inch of shell , so a male will do okay in a 60 or so but a female will need upwards of a 120 gallon. I would love to see pics of your turtle ! ( kinda got a thing for the little guys)

Re: res

so i have done a lot of research and he is apparently a boy and he is about 6in long. i put him in the 60 gallon today! do you think a fluval 405 will be enough for him? i am going to the petstore tomorrow to get a uva/uvb light for him. should i buy him one of those turtle toppers? i saw a video and they looked pretty cool lol

Re: res

As far as basking areas go , you can use a topper if you wish , we have a 120 gallon tank for our turtle girl and use a giant floating piece of cork bark! Just make sure he has a stable area that he can climb aboard and bask upon .

Re: res

when my friends girlfriend had her RES she had a fake rock that you suction cup to the side of the tank that sits just below the water then raises up so they can climb up and bask.
