Totally off topics but are there any fungi folks here?

I am wondering what in the h*ll this is. It was found at beaver lake (vancouver island BC). I thought it was a mushroom but it had no gills or anything. VERY strange.

Thanks for any help

Ya that park has some really messed up looking plants/fungus. Never a dull trip. We even saw a bird and a beetle! Come spring time there will be lots to see though (love those bullfrogs ).

I like "PuffBall" mushrooms. I don't know if they have another name. All I know is that they're really good mildly fried in butter.
They grow on kate's parent's property along with morels. Mmmmmm

Oomycota I think. Maybe a mold, pseudo fungi, Indian Pipe, or a myxomycota. I'll find out for you man. This is all from memory (yikes), but I'll find the book to look it up. Give me a couple days.
