Friggin cold in my room... Tin Foil to the rescue!

Ok so as you may be able to imply from my title... my room is friggin cold... I know exact opposite of my old room... I can never just get a normal room can I?... So there is the thing the ambient was WAY to cold... it was sitting at around 65... soo solution I taped tin foil to the OUTSIDE of the enclosure no tape on the inside... (I got a good earful last time I did that...) the tin foil covers about I wanna say 80% of the glass... still enough exposed in the front to let light in and what not... Photos will be up soon...ish

I do have a Thermostat connected to my UTH... thank god I love that little thing best investment I ever made...

So what I want to know is what are you thoughts on my "ghetto" renovations? Is it suitable? will it be ok? Should I remove it immediately?

Thanks in advance for the excellent information I know I will receive

...why am I brown nosing so much? hmmm

Haven't personally used tin foil.
What i do is buy Styrofoam sheets and wrap/cover the enclosure. It's cheep and works like a charm.

looks ugly, but i can't think of any safety hazards associated with it.

If it works and you're not repulsed and/or embarassed () by how truly ugly it is, doesn't matter what we think.

LOL Mike thank you for the comforting words :P

However I have a small issue... It still is too friggin cold... the ambient is sitting around 72-73 and the hot side is only 83-84 cold side is 67...

Go down to lowes or home depot or ACE or wherever and go to the insulation aisle. They sell 4x8 foam sheets that ranged from 1/2" to 2" thick. You can cut these down, paint them and stick them to the glass to help increase heat retention.

Do you happen to know a price range they might be?

Just a reminder tho the "hotspot" of a bps tank should be 91f

Here in Florida, starts at around $10 for 1/2"x4'x8' and goes up from there. Unfortunately you can't get smaller sheets, but you could either double up on one tank or use it as an excuse to buy another snake.

Re: Friggin cold in my room... Tin Foil to the rescue!

Ugh! When I came home this morning and walked into my room I could tell right away it was to cold! Sure enough when I checked temps everybody was way below where I'd like them to be. ;/ Now I've got my CHE's on and my space heater turned up to high for a bit. ;/
I guess if the tin foil works, it's cheaper than proper insolation I would think. Makes it look a bit like your snakes going for a trip in a ufo though.
