Yesterdays tornados and storm.

Since a major storm front ripped up about 1/3 of the continental US, anyone else here get any serious damage from it??

The power went out for some time, shutting down my sump pumps, Thankfully I have a gasoline powered pump, we got it hooked up in time to spare the basement any real flooding.

Luckily, my house only got some minor damage..

My poor barn however got demolished by the insane winds... It's going to be strange not having the barn anymore, it's 100+ years old.

Going to try and salvage some of the wood. everything in there was ruined. Thankfully no animals in there to lose.

Not even sure how to safely tear it down now looks far too dangerous to go in and try to recover anything, yet alone take what's left apart.

I'm 15 miles south of Watkins Glen.

The wind broke off trees in my woods too.

Re: Yesterdays tornados and storm.

I've seen a lot of old barns come down. Best thing to do is knock it down, and just start sorting through. Probably would'nt take more than one or two good shoves with a front end loader.

Re: Yesterdays tornados and storm.

we are going to attempt to pull the siding off first, Then pull the beams over with a tractor and chain.

then just shovel up whats left with a loader.

I want to get one of those mini barns with the gable roof and side it with the siding off this one, like a "memorial barn"

Lot's of childhood memories with that barn. Going to miss it.

On a brighter note, My taxes just went down.

Any of the wood salvageable? There are companies that pay pretty decent to take the wood and remake the old timber into flooring for upscale housing.

I'd like to get my hands on your wood Wayne. I'm all about salvage and recycling.
