Re: thermometer

i have a little digital thermometer, but i've heard the hand held laser aim thermometers you buy from the hardware stores are the best for surface temps.

Re: thermometer

I have a cheaper thermometer that sticks to the side of the tank. However I also have a laser that reads the ambient temperature that I use from time to time to make sure the thermometer works. Bought it at an expo for 20 bucks I think. I would suggest getting both.

Re: thermometer

I use the laser one - much more accurate than any of the dial type ones.

Re: thermometer

Having 9 cages to check it works out cheaper having the laser than having to buy individual ones for each enclosure. All our enclosures have thermostats so once the original set up is done and temps are stable its just a case of running the laser round once a week to check that noone has knocked the thermostats.

Re: thermometer

I have a digital on the hot and cold side, has both temp and humidity. I priced out Lowes, walmart and Petsupplies plus and the one at PSP was cheaper only because it was winter and the other two box stores didnt have any el cheapos. The analog ones that came with the set up werent as accurate but they did the job.

Re: thermometer

I have 16 snake tubs and all 16 have a digital thermometer like the one pictured above. I get mine off ebay, they are really cheap here in the uk.

This is exactly what I do Though the laser temp gun I have didn't cost me a lot...but that might have been because it was at an expo. Not sure. I do know you can't live without it.

Re: thermometer

That is what I use when I need to get a percise measurement. Other than that the only other thing I have, which is in the middle of the tank, is this...

Sorry the pics are so big >.<

Re: thermometer

I have the exo terra dials in my tanks cos they came with the set ups that i bought, wouldnt trust them too much tho - my snakes seem to like just moving them around the viv so that we spend half our time trying to find them.
