so i ll start another post lol.. but first i appreciated everybody that went to my other post and clam me down not to be stressful and gave me a lot of infos!! thank you!

well here is another question. Anybody here are/were using digital thermometer/hydrometer? i have been doing research on zilla, exo terra and Flukers...all the reviews i ve read were "they r junk..dont buy it not worth it."haha. people actually recommened those thermometer/hydrometer from wal mart for $15 dallor...but it doesnt read huminity in tank..i DO NOT want to put the whole unit into my tank in order to read temps and humunity cause it looks funny..i d like to keep it natural looking for my GTP..any idea what product i could use?? thanks again

Hm that's a tough one I use small white thermometers from walmart lol that read humidity as well. Maybey you could dress them up a bit with some foliage and kinda cover it with leaves or somthing exept the display. They Arnt very big maybey 2" by 3" I have one on each side of all my enclosures. I've sean people rewire them with probes so all you would have is the wire but I haven't looked into how this is done.

lol great idea but i still want to keep natural..still look funny with the digital numbers in tank lol i m not sure how to wire them..girls r not as good as guys haha.

Ther are some slightly more expensive units by aculite that have an outdoor remote sensore that you could put inside and conceal.

Why not use a normal thermostat and then get an exoterra humidity/ thermometer gauge? I use two of these in ny vivs and all you see is a thin black wire and probe. X good luck

For a couple of weeks use a basic hygrometer to check your humidity levels, you will learn on that time how much you need to spray and what the tank looks like, then take out the hygrometer and use your judement to keep the humidityright, every month or so put it back in just to make sure you arre still on trrack.

Remember that humidity should be cyclic, it shouldnt be kept at a constant percentage as this is not natural. I spray my gtp morning and early evening up to about 75-80%, it then "dries out" to about 55-60% before i respray.

again i'm not trying to be cheeky

i would put the hydrometers into the tank regardless of how they look the most important thing is getting the husbandry correct and the snake eating and thriving in his tank

after all thats sorted out you could figure a way of making your tank pleasing on the eye

for now though the most important thing is keeping the snake correct not how the tank looks there will be plenty of time to do that as your snake has the ability to live 20 to 30 years

So today I bought like 5 different kinds of thermometer and hydrometer.. They all read different.. Lol which one should I trust.. This is confusing.. Oh god I got accurite from walmart.. Flukers .. Petco brand one.. And other types ..

I would do more research online before buying everything. Digital I would think would be the way to go over mechanical measuring. I really like the digital thermostat/hydrometer that is in the zoo med reptibator I bought. its very accurate and fast too. it will be at 80% and when you open it it drops immediately. Its in a lid with heat elements so not very usable for anything else but incubating eggs.

I get slightly different readings from different units but not a lot and you will get different readings from different spots make sure as you test you put them in the same location

And also by opening and closing the enclosure to put thethings in and out you are changing the heat and humidity, AND disturbing the snake constantly...........

I have a Fluker's digital thermometer which I picked up for around 30 dollars I use it only for ambient air temperatures and humidity (its is a thermometer and a hydrometer) and for surface temperatures I bought a Ryobi temp gun from a home hardware store which cost about 70 dollars

I know 70 dollars seems like a lot but I can guarantee you anyone on this site that has one swears by it. It is probably the most useful thing I have for my snake. That and if you ever have more than one snake that kinda means you never need to buy a thermometer again

saves me money in the long run.
