New Member - Ball Python & Enclosure Photos

Hello, this is my first post. I have a almost 3 year old ball python named koil.
This is the enclosure I built on my own. It has a built in Heating pad in the ground with a heating lamp for light and heat during the day.

Also I work as a contractor but would like to expand into building custom reptile enclosures, what would one consider paying for a enclosure like this. i have made two other for bearded dragons my family owns; and currently I've been working on a new one walled with stone tile.

Awesome viv, you rarely see people taking that kind of time for Ball pythons.
I can't give you price quotes offhand but there is an amazing company you might be able to get some ideas off of.

Some of the stuff that they sell is amazing.

Nice snake and enclosure. You may want to check out Cornelsworld for more ideas on designs and pricing. He's a custom cage manufacturer out west here. I'm not sure who if anyone builds custom wood enclosures out east, but you may want to check out a local show/expo to scope out the competition. Good luck

Re: New Member - Ball Python & Enclosure Photos

thanks for the comments, yeah I've seen some sites that make custom cages, that j-worlds is some beautiful work. The next enclosure that I'm currently designing Im thinking about putting heating pads under throughout the fake rocks. at work I install heated tile floors in some homes. was wondering if anyones tried anything like this before and has any advice. Also thinking about building a small water fall my friend had one in his bearded dragon cage and he had trouble keeping it clean so i was thinking of building it just so that it flows right into the pond.

This is the First enclosure i built for my pair of bearde dragons.

I made this one for my sister as a birthday gift when my buddy decided he didn't want his beardie any more and i would make a great owner.

And here is one more of the snake cage from when i first built it. He has since knocked the masks off wall.

Do you build your own rock "caves"? if so, what materials/finish do you give them, amazing job.

Re: New Member - Ball Python & Enclosure Photos

yes i have in the past built ones using insulating foam and then lightly spray painted because the paint will eat away at the foam and give it a little texture and then i use dry wall compound to fill in all the holes made by the paint and then paint it once more.

the next time i am going to use a wood frame and use a wire heating system in spots that will be covered in a scratch coat. the other areas that are not heated will be insulating foam glued to the wood and carved out to the shape i want. but this time instead of painting it i will use stucco to cover the foam. once that has dryed it will look like stone and be hard and textured to the touch. also i plan on running a pump through the cliff that will have a water fall into a pond and am thinking about going to a ceramic store and buying a ceramic skeleton to mold into the side of the cliff.

hoping to make it a 48' long x 18' deep x 18' High or more.
