Newest Addition

So, it's not a scaley friend but... It's interesting, none the less.

Some of you may have seen my post on someone's thread stating I was going to begin looking for hairless rats... Today's Lexington Reptile Expo happened, and there were a lot of faces I hadn't seen last time. One of these new faces had brought along some guinea pigs. He breeds, specifically, hairless guinea pigs. So, I thought,"... It's been -years- since I've had a guinea pig... and guinea pigs live longer... I think I've missed the humble guinea pig." $50 dollars later, here comes my hairless girl!

Just weened. She hasn't been socialized so I have the task of getting her accustomed to being held. She'll be getting a cage mate tomorrow.~

Re: Newest Addition

Ha, responses are always varied when it comes to hairless animals xD I personally love them~ They're so warm~ There's just a few special things they need compared to the usual fuzzy, though.

Alien and ugly are common names for hairless animals. xD Well, at least, I see people commonly comment such. They kinda do look like aliens~ And they're so 'ugly', they're cute. :>

Re: Newest Addition

Uhm....well....congratulations....but I kind of view them like I view furless cats....(ick).

But...if he/she's happy and loved and cared for, then I am glad because all animals need love too.

Re: Newest Addition

Hey now, I had one rat born in a litter of feeders who grew up with no hair, His name is "Streaker" and he never got fed off. I pulled him out along with another male from the same colony (no fights or breeding that way) and gave them their own cage.

Re: Newest Addition

I love the Sphynx. I love hairless rats, skinny pigs, and any other naturally furry animal that winds up hairless~ They're always so interesting~

And nice one Wayne~ Jealous you actually had a hairless rat :0

Ha, my snakes are babies. c: Couldn't handle a piggie.

And yes, I'm quite happy with it. I just got her a little cage mate. Blonde/White coated guinea pig.
