Opinions on Markus Jayne

Good eve everyone.

Just continuing my research on Ball Pythons, I believe I know enough now to be somewhat competent and ready to start educating myself on the "local" breeders and so on I know there are a couple in my area on here also who I would like to hear from and get to know.

I emailed Markus Jayne the other day to get to know him a little and find out what he would have in stock in the near future and his general philosophy etc.

He was quite friendly at first and wrote in long paragraphs, but quickly became disinterested and crusty when he found out I was shopping around. Ending with single word emails.

Generally I like to have a strong relationship with the person Im buying reptiles or really anything serious from and I would like to know if he is worth the effort. Or is anyone else willing to take a step forward?

Thanks

With pretty much any business unless you are showing a sustained interest in spending money then they are not going to share lots of info with you. Time is money and all that, why waste time with a "maybe"sale when there are other definite sales to deal with.

I have a sustained interest in purchasing an Animal, should I not shop around and see the kind of people Im trusting to provide me with said animal?

Yes you should but you also have to see it from the businesses side as well, if they can for example reply to twenty emails a day the they have a better strike rate replying to twenty different individuals than replying to one person twenty times.

It's all on his site.

Don't feel bad. The guy probably gets a lot of e-mails and can't keep up with every single individual at great length.

Don't take it personal. Mark gets hundreds of e-mails a day.
I've known Mark for over 10 years and rest assured, he is one of the Top 2 in Canada, and a class act all the way.

That is reassuring, and What I was looking for I will continue to keep him in my consideration.

Who's # 1? I missed the listing.......

I'd check Fauna BOI for info, or look at his track record.

Re: Opinions on Markus Jayne

We only went live a few months ago and we are flooded with E-Mails and yes it is hard to get back to everyone I can only imagine what a man of his caliber goes threw be patient and keep up your research efforts once you choose what and where you are going to spend your money on you will see faster responses from breeders also remember this is the height of the breeding season people like him spend more time with breeding record data entry and collecting eggs as well as making fresh availability lists. There is more to this then forums, websites & E-Mails and there is still only 24 hours in a day. Trust me breeders use 20 of those hours every day just to*keep up with the industry demands.

Re: Opinions on Markus Jayne

I have bought two animals from Mark.
Top notch animals and is second to none when I had any questions or needed any help.
He must be really busy with all his breeding as some other members have mentioned before don't take it personally.
Good luck snake shopping.
