Retand eye shed.
My BRB last shed was in pieces and i noticed he still has shed on his eyes. What's the best way to remove it with out hurting his eyes? This is the first bad shed he ever had.

Re: Retand eye shed.
I have only had this happen once and the way that I got it off was by putting the snake into a pillow case with damp wash cloths and that moistened the retained eye cap and her crawling through the wash cloths in the pillow case caused it to rub off very quickly. You can also use a qtip. But main thing, never pick or scrape at it because you can obviously damage the eye. A good soaking never hurts either.

Re: Retand eye shed.
A good soak just before trying that will work wonders, Chuck. You can always look into a product called "shed ease" as well. As a more general note, a bad shed usually indicates humidity issues in the tank, so check your levels.
Finally, as he approachs his following shed, boost your humidity way up. Often, a retained cap will come off with the next shed.
Good luck, and let us know how it goes--

Re: Retand eye shed.
The pillow case trick, if all else fails. Take a warm dripping wet (not damp) large towel trow it inside a pillow case, on the cool side, place snake in before you go to bed and in the morning take the snake out.

Re: Retand eye shed.
I know part of the problem is i need to move him to a new tote. I been having issue keeping the humidity up in his tote, because i put to many air hole in it. My yellow anaconda in a tote the same size, but as half the air hole an it hold the humidity 10% to 15% higher and longer. I mist the yellow once in the morning and it stays above 70% never drops below. My BRB i mist twice daily and with in 7 hours it's drop down to 60%. While in shed i was misting 3 times a day. So i am move him to a new tote this week. I'll give the one his in now a good bleaching and put one of my new Jag in it. Can't wait Thursday i get two new Jaguar carpet and a Dumeril Boa.
