hygrometer problems and calibration

So haven hygro problems I have 2 dig temp and hygro units so one on hot side and one on kewl temps are great but the hygro I keep on the hot keeps going "bad" second time its happened with 2 diff brands they started giving low readings I just cleaned and got them mixed up and noticed the cool end humidity was lower than it should have ben so I placed the 2 in the middle to check if they would balance out and it stayed low just wondering if anyone else has had this problem also because of this I was looking up ways to calibrate hygrometers and came across a method to see if your hygro is acurate as this is second hand info I can't honestly vouch for it but thought id share put 1/2 cup salt in coffe cup so im assuming about 8oz cup fill with 1/4 cup or so water until its saturated and like wet sand place cup and hygro in gallon zipper bag and leave for 8-12hr in area with consistant temp not in direct sun no draft ect then check and u should read 75% for reasons I yet understand lol

Re: hygrometer problems and calibration

what kind of heating do you use? general setup? in general the hot side will have less humidity then the cold. what i do is i put a water bowl directly under my heat lamp for my bp and it deals with some of the humidity problems.
