Re: ???

different world they live in mate

from what i see its a perfectly healthy snake

theres a lot worse going on than a family showing respect for a big snake

a lot of familys in different countrys use snakes as a way to put food in their familys mouths

also some are harvested for their skin, meat etc

then theres the cobra's who have been de fanged or had mouths sewn shut

although i DON'T CONDONE IT

i understand it and cannot blame them for trying to survive and feed their familys

its not like they can get a job and pop down the local super market after all

theres plenty different cultures out there that do not have the privilages afforded to us westerners mate

cheers shaun

Re: ???

Have to agree with shaun, if it is a westerner showing off with their snakes etc then i totally disagree but a Lot of these videos is westerners filming things they havd seen in "third world" countries where their only menas of survival ans putting food into their children is what we would call exploitation of animals. To be honest if it got to the stage of being in a situation where my kid would starve there is very little that i wouldnt do to put food in her belly.

Re: ???

I'm honestly not quite sure what to make of that scenario- it appears the snake is wild and allowed to come and go as it pleases. They feed it, so it sticks around. It is nice that they are honoring it and showing it respect instead of killing it, but it's undeniably dangerous to let it around the kid unsupervised.

Re: ???

It's Westerners filming and sensationalizing. (Look at these Crazy third world people!" If I remember correctly, the mother believed that the snake was a family good luck charm that appeared to her in a dream.

There a far worse things on youtube posted by Americans.

Just cause I am curious can I ask what was wrong with the way the snake was treated? Were you talking about the police there or the owner? I didn't sit through the 4+ min. of the video so unsure of what is wrong and why the police were called out to the property to get the snake in the first place.

Now this one I have seen a few times before.

It's pretty cool really.

Man and beast living together in harmony. That snake knows that kid is not food. and the family is aware of the risk, they tried to relocate the snake to the jungle, but it came back "home" all on it's own. So who knows, that kid could very well grow up with a lifelong friend.

Think about it guys, if you could release your herps, and they CHOSE to stay of their own free will, wouldn't that put a whole new twist on our hobby?

I seen that vid on there before... for the resources they have it seems like they baby it...the other vid I think is reasonable aswell they are not hurting or mis treating, it must not be easy to control a snake that large, plus they prolly had fears of getting tagged lol cool vids none the less!! Also I agree with ya Wayne

Re: ??? - Giant python ban sensationalized by press

on the 2nd vid i think they took the snake because a neighbors saw it in the house and called the cops they took it because the owner was not there to show them he had the permit to keep a burm, in FL you have to have a permit to keep large snakes, well now they are banned so if you did not have a permit before the ban you cant get one no more.

the only thing i can see wrong with the snake is its WAY OVERFEED brums should be big but not that big. 4 bunnies for one feeding is too much and i dont care if they just feed it once a month thats still alot.

yea the worst part about the florida video was they stuffed it in a dog kennel. and the way they manhandled it. its like they were asking to be struck.

Well for people who are not experts in the keep and transport of reptiles I thought they did pretty damn good. Also they probably didn't have anything else to carry it safely in. I mean what good way is there to carry an overfed large snake? As far as the way they were handling it I guess not being an owner of one of those guys I wouldn't know what is a good way or a bad way. I mean they were sloppy...but manhandling I don't think I would personally call it that. The snake looked REALLY heavy overall, would be hard to manage any way you did it.

Also, think about it this way. The family did not post this video, nor did they seek the publicity.

And it is my personal opinion, that much like professional sports, the us government should not be involved in the pets I choose to have.
