Profile: The Jade sisters

This week I’ll take a break from breeders to profile some new arrivals at Living Gems Reptiles.

In October 2010, Living Gems was fortunate to secure two great-looking little girls from a local breeder. The two are sisters, sharing a common mother and possibly sharing a father as well -- two males were rotated the past breeding season, so we may never be sure. They are named for a pair of precious materials commonly dubbed “Jade.”

First up is Jadeite. Following are two shots from her arrival day:

(and)

Next up is Nephrite. Following are two shots from her arrival day as well:

(and)

Both she and her sister are in shed as I write this. Hopefully, we’ll have new fresh-skin pictures soon!

Happy New Year to everyone on sSnakess,

WOW! Those girls are absolutely stunning! I really like the light coloration on them; that orange just pops! And many of the BRBs that I see are darker and more earthy toned.

Good luck with them and please show us some pics post-shed!

Re: Profile: The Jade sisters

Thanks guys! They're good-looking little ones, for sure. The first one has slightly better color (both orange and red background), and the second one has a more interesting pattern (did anyone else notice her back?). However, any babies are far, far in the future, 2013 at the earliest. I appreciate the nice comments!

^^ Her back does seem to have more "squiggles" or connected circles than the typical BRB....very interesting! It would be a nice experiment pairing her up with a male that has a lot of "squiggles" to see if it is genetic...?!

Re: Profile: The Jade sisters

I agree, pattern breeding is a definite possibility with her...especially if she holds her color!
