Re: Eco earth

I use it, I like it. Cheap and easy to ship.

Re: Eco earth

And it holds humidity really well. Keep it damp or it gets dusty.

I feed my snakes outside the enclosures, while they are eating I do a quick spot clean, mist and stir. If you don't stir it a little, the top will get damp, but the bottom will dry out.

I like the fact it absorbs odor and clumps up when poo gets in it.

Re: Eco earth

I realy like the way it looks haven't had the chance to add it to my retic enclosure and am having a little trouble with it in my trantula tank holding humidity a little to well the glass is fogging up and its a little high for him I have a plexy glass top wich I drilled holes every inch on about a third of it to get more ventalation ill drill the rest tomorrow to see if that gives it enough vent to clear things up I even took it out and baked it for a hr and a half to dry it out a bit guess I need to squeeze it out better next time lol cuz its still purdy damp. Oh yeah it was the brick kind u add water to

Re: Eco earth

I found that if I use less water and take some time to break things up with my hands, I can get the brick to work without a sopping wet bucket of goo.

another reason I am fond of mixing in the bark, I dump in a bag (8 qt size) with 2 reconstituted bricks, the bark will wick up a lot of the runny stuff.

Another way to speed up drying, is spread it out on a big tray or a sheet of plastic overnight. If you have a cat (or cats) don't leave it uncovered where the kitty can find it, or you will get an unwanted surprise or two.

Nothing like buying new substrate only to have your cat think it's fresh kitty litter!
