Which Enclosure Brand is the Best?
Hey guys,
There are so many brands to choose from? From your experience which is the best? I'm looking for around a 6 foot enclosure. Apart from important stuff like quality, leakage, etc. I also want it to look nice (for a reptile cage).
What are your opinions/reviews?
Thanks

Re: Which Enclosure Brand is the Best?
Boaphiles are good, rubbermaid/ sterilite tubs...from walmart...very good for keeping proper humidity...but if your looking for somethin fancier..... Plastic Reptile Cages, Tanks and Racks. Snake, arboreal, lizard and turtle light weight custom flexwatt heated enclosures., Monster Cages: Custom Reptile Cages, Reptile Rack Systems, Boas, Pythons, and Feeder Animals, also there is always lots of enclosures on this website Barrie fish, snakes, rabbits, turtles, frogs & other pets for sale - Free Barrie Classifieds at Kijiji
you just select where you are from and it will search your area...hope this helps!! I'm sure someone else will give ya a lil more insight.

Re: Which Enclosure Brand is the Best?
Thanks. I've already looked at most of those websites before. But it's hard for me to decide by just the pictures they provide.
I suppose I could go to a reptile show, maybe I could get some first-hand experience.

A vet check after adopting is probably a good idea right, to check for any parasites?
Luckily on both craigslist and petfinder I can constantly find young ones in my area.

Re: Which Enclosure Brand is the Best?
Vision Cages are nice. They're one piece molded plastic, so you won't get leaks, and they're stackable. However they are ridiculously expensive. Unfortunately most purpose built reptile enclosures are ridiculously expensive, so if you don't have $500 to spend, I recommend either building yourself, or looking into rubbermaid/steralite tubs. Of course, anything big enough to need a 6' cage is probably going to break out of a rubbermaid tub in about 5 minutes.

I have to say that the pre constructed cages are minimalistic. If you want something that you and your animal will enjoy, do it yourself, or hire a handy friend to do it for you. A nice sized custom cage can get very expensive.

Re: Which Enclosure Brand is the Best?
He means they're basically a big empty box. No options, no extras. You're basically paying $500-$1000 for a plastic box with a glass or plastic door, and maybe some precut holes for light fixtures.
If you build yourself, you can build specifically what your animal needs. You can, for example, put down heat cable and then lay tile over it. Or, you can make multiple levels, or design it too look like real rock, with built in waterfalls.

I have 4 4x2x1 i got use for $300.00 on kingsnake.com. I love them i planning on getting more this spring. I like the plastic, because it so much easier keeping humidity up and to clean them.
