Hello friends
After a while of tertiary lurking I decided to create my own account here. My wife is a member here and is really loving this forum. I feel that I should educate myself to the newest intruders in my home. I am really starting to get into this hobby and am debating about getting my own snake. If I did it would be something slightly larger than her ball python to maximum of eight foot.
Thank you all for offering this opportunity to learn especially infernalis, your willingness to release knowledge to new members is amenable and puts you in the highest regards in my book.

Re: Hello friends
Yakima - that should narrow it down Rob.
I could do an IP lookup, but that would spoil your fun.

Re: Hello friends
hello and welcome
have a look at carpet pythons
they can grow from 4ft to 10 feet depending on which type you get
coastal carpets and diamond pythons are the largest
the rest of them usually hit around the 5 to 8 ft mark
girth wise roughly that of a coke can
easy to keep and a hardy species of snake
semi arboreal so love hanging off a branch on display most days
great feeding responses
come in all sorts of colours and patterns
cheers shaun

Re: Hello friends
Thanks guys, I definitely want something bigger than my wife's ball. A lager carpet may be the way to go. But Shaun, reading your posts isn't that what you recommend for everyone? Is this because that is all you have?
Thanks guys.

Re: Hello friends
Hello and welcome! Your wife is nanna i believe? BRB (Brazilian Rainbow Boa). are another real good choice and beautiful snakes. They get between 5 to 8 feet. To me they're the boa anwser to carpet. They just need higher humidity.

Yes, it is nanna. She has been wanting a BRB. I was thinking that I will make a terrarium with a mesh top and a sliding glass door over that. This would help to eliminate the common fear of humidity control. I can make to any spec, but what I was thinking is that I would make it with dividers that could be removed as the snake grows. What size would you recommend for a starter and for a final? I don't like most of the commercial dimensions. They never fit on anything.
I still like the idea of a carpet, but its best to keep the lady folk happy. Maybe when I'm done with grad school.
