But he HAS made great improvement.
I am posting partial post because EVERY TIME I am close to being done, something happens and my entire post is just gone. Grrrrrrr.
Attached pictures are Magoo when this first began, pic's taken today to follow. Please bear with me while I try and get it right, FOURTH TIME NOW.
Sigh.
...But he has greatly improved since "this" began around four mounths ago. In the beginning, I thought it was scale rot, for which he has been treated for one other time in the nearly seven years we've been together. I called the Vet, got the Silvadene Cream, and began treating. I'm not sure at what point I realized S.R. was not what was wrong, but since their metabolism is so slow, it was at least a full shed cycle. Let me say that Magoo is everything to me, and he spends quite a bit of time outside of his enclosure, so I did not one day "look in on him" only to discover problems.
I was having my usual life issues, and funds were limited, so I called her up and asked if I could e-mail her some pictures. She said she didn't know how much she could tell from photos, but go ahead and send them. I told her if she couldn't get anything from the photos, I would sell my soul to bring him in if need be.
She said, I believe, that it was a bacterial infection, and gave me 12 doses of Fortaz, an antimicribial, and a brief tutorial on injections. $55.00.

~Help!~ Mr Magoo is STILL sick...part 2
He responded to the Fortaz after the 3rd or 4th dose, but ever so slightly. I'd say around 25-30% if I had to describe. Oh, and his Vet? She was leaving that office days after seeing me. She was having complicated surgery of some sort.
So life issues still in effect, and I am without a working vehicle. After spending multitudinous hours researching BP's and illnesses, I made the decision to take him to an accommodating Vet Hospital without an exotics specialist to get him a different or a combination of antibiotics. The Vet this time had not heard of nor used Fortaz, and sent me home with 10 doses of Baytril, determined by his weight. $124.00
Magoo responded much better after 2nd dose, and while he has been finished with the Baytril for 2 1/2 or more weeks, it SEEMS as though he has continued to get better ever so slightly. Is that even possible? The entire while he has been sick, his eating, shedding & defecating habits have remained normal. He's been such a good boy while sick!!! Anyway, my options are these, and I would appreciate suggestions or other options.
1)Take him to see a specialist.
2)Call Baytril Vet and get more meds.
3)Wait and see. I am not fond of this because with their metabolism so slow, by the "seeing" time arrives, it may be too late to help him.
Have any of you seen this before? What IS it? Is it possible he will improve without my help?
With this being my 4th posting attempt, I have unsubtly failed to remember every pertinent detail, so as I recall them, I will update post. Thank you for reading, and offering your thoughts.
Best regards,
~Erin

Re: ~Help!~ Mr Magoo is STILL sick...
Sorry I'm not going to be long-winded, but to me that looks like a bit of a belly burn. I'm thinking an $8 tube of Polysporin would fix it right up. Keep him on paper towel and apply the (clear) cream daily.
I think your vets (who generally are not all that bright when it comes to reptiles in general)....
I'll leave that alone.
Anyways, Polysporin and paper towels.
If it is belly burn (which I'm almost positive of) fix your husbandry so it doesn't happen again.

Re: ~Help!~ Mr Magoo is STILL sick...
Thank you for your feedback and Mykee, man, I love your site. I DO NOT nor have I ever used any type of heating device inside his enclosure. That said, my ex took care of my baby while I was in custody, but I cannot remember how close together these events are related. I just called my former Vet's office and asked what condition the Fortaz was prescribed for and they said it was for a systemic infection. With that in mind, how should I proceed?
