Re: which new snake??
Always go with a carpet lol here comes the flood of posts that look just like this one lol red tails boas are sweet snakes as well. i have both, love them both as well but the carpets are much more interesting because they like to climb around and eat off their perches ... carpets ftw

Re: which new snake??
My boa's are pretty active. My Nic more so than My redtail, but for the most part they are out and about quite often.

Re: which new snake??
I say go with the carpet. I am a total Morelia addict, with 7 carpets, 3 green tree pythons, and a Moluccan scrub. Carpets are curious, active snakes, and jungles have a gorgeous yellow and black pattern. I also have red-tails and the hypo salmons are my favorites. They get large though; 10-12 feet; so you have to be prepared for a 60 pound snake that is time and a half your height. Carpets top out at 6-8 feet on average and are very slender for their length. Both RTBs and carpets tend to be good eaters, but carpets are generally more tolerant of lapses in temps/humidity.
