Wow I'll bet you had fun cleaning when the mites came to visit! That's an impressive amount of cages! And you said you heat the room with a heater? I assume thats for the ambient temps. What do you keep it at?

Thanks Freebody, looking forward to the pics of your collection!

Re: as per request my snakes room, nothing much.

Thank you very much everyone, now that im working again i plan to build one of the white cages for everyone of those snakes, the carpets will get the same cage but 2 feet tall instead of 1 and yes, the mites was exciting, it took hours and hours to clean and spray and bath every snakes.... and i got 3 snakes, the albino jag hets lol all 3 females, that strike at any movment 100% of the time so you can imagine how many time i got bit lol. sure it will be my pleasure to get some pic for you all. ill snap a pic of my snakes and m 2 geckos and post them asap. im going to use heat cord. i have it under the adults cages but the tubs are just heated with ambient temps, they are all warm to the touch but the adults dont stay worm so i taped heat cord under the cages. my mother just got 1.1 het pied balls 3 weeks ago, that are not in the room yet and i forgot to mention

Love how simple it looks! Do you have a link to a thread or webpage explaining how the plastic tubs are turned into cages?

Also with that type of setup how do you provide the special lights they need? If you have a fluorescent fixture in the room as a general light does it give the vitamins they need and such?

Sorry for being a newbie with a thousand questions but I really love your setup!

Most snakes have no specific requirement for special lighting. Some keepers put led lights in the vivs so that you can see the snakes better.

lid rob said, snakes usually hide all day in the wild and as a result they have adapted to getting all of its need from the food they eat.

Nice room.

Snake rooms are always work in progress

I have been at mine for a few years and still have a lot more to do, like a never ending process.

Re: as per request my snakes room, nothing much.

Oh wow. It seems like every question I ask I get shown something else I have heard repetitively is nonsense. I had read in some of the books and care sheets that they needed certain UV spectrum to metabolize their food properly. Now I have to find some other interesting animal to use those expensive light fixtures I have on *evil grin*

The ones you are getting ready to build when you get paid... are they going to be like the white one in the first picture or more like the wood colored one? I would love to see how it all turns out when you are done. I'd love to be able to build stuff like that for my critters but I have virtually no tools and no garage to store them in or work with them if I did.

Do you have a thread with pictures of your snakes anywhere? I'd love to see them too

Snakes do not need UV like most lizards do. While there is no harm in it, and some may benefit from it, snakes eat whole, bony prey and if they are fed a proper diet, they get all the calcium and minerals they need from digesting their meals.
