???why is he doing this

my BP is yawning a lot at least once a day(maybe not that often but i see it a lot) that ive seen ever since i got him about 3 months ago he doesnt cough anything up he eats just fine and is a love but he just yawns a lot im fairly certain its not a URI or something like that cause when i took him to the vet about 2 months ago the vet said he was in perfect shape. (not sure if he is a he vet didnt want to probe him yet but i just call him a he) i even used the bar of a q tip to keep is mouth open for about 10secs once to see if he had anything stuck in his mouth and i couldnt see anything. any ideas or advice???

All my snakes have a yawn after a feed or have one if they are chilling out on a perch. Its not unusual at all.

ok good i just have read all my life that when a snake yawns it usually means a URI so its bothered me ever since i first saw it

I`ve never heard of that dude. If he`s doing a nice wide yawn that looks like a yawn, nothing to worry about. If he`s doing quite small yawns with what looks like a slight chewing motion he might have a foriegn body in there. Use something nice and thin to open his mouth, something the thickness of a screwdriver. STERILISED then open his mouth and have a good look around. Not just in the mouth but down the sides of his teeth aswell. A quick look usually does the trick for me, it`s obviousl if somethings in there and if it`s been there for a few days it`s usually got some discharge around it making it easier to spot anyway. But as I say, if he`s just doing proper yawns, nice wide mouth open for a full second type yawn that`s fine. The most reliable sign of RI is wheezing, clicking and tiny bubbles from the nostrils. Well done for going straight to the vet when you suspected something though. I applaud you for that, unfortunatly not all new keepers have that kind of attitude. Well done that Reptile reptile!!

all my snakes get an exam after their first poop (so i can have it tested) and I'm not concerned with money when it comes to safety for my loves. Ive even looked into getting them health insurance but where it does exist its easier not to have

Yeah it`s a waste of money that isn`t it. It`s cheaper to justr deal with problems as they arrise. Cheaper by faaaaaaaaaaaar too
