So as of now, all my snakes are in 10, 10, 10, and 30 gal long glass aquarium. During the day all my temps are fine, but at nifht it drops down to 60 degrees. I need wa way to heat my cages at night. Rt now I have a red light on my BRB, and nothing on my other ones. My 2 cones and ball python are sll out exploring... but is getting colder. My BRB cage Is at80 degrees right now with the red light.... is here any way/ something I can get or do to make the temp around 75 all night.... I was thinking flex watt or something... what would you do??????

I guess I should clarify that I need a way to get the temps up in all cages.

Re: help with heating at night.

I have individual ceramic bulbs and thermostats for each snake/vivarium. Guaranteed temps 24 hours a day (til the bulb goes!!)

Re: help with heating at night.

Ceramics dont get turned off, that's the difference. They are on all day and all night so no temp drop - unless you want one of course!!

Re: help with heating at night.

red lights can be left on all night and day. if you already have the setup for lights i would just go get a red bulb and leave it on 24/7

Re: help with heating at night.

Some do give cooler night temps but even then just turn the thermostat down at bedtime. Mine stay constant night and day.

Re: help with heating at night.

i keep my snake room the same temp day and night as well, but you can just make one of the things i linked and mark the temp on the dial for you night temp, and turn it down at night and back up the next day or program a digital thermostat.

Re: help with heating at night.

I see, I will check the temps and watch the temp tonight... see what's going on. In the room where Tue closet I have them in there is a baseboard heater, I have that set to 70-72 plus a night heat light bulb in the close light socket... for of confusing but seeking to work a lil.

What I might do is just change the bulbs nightly/daily to a red or blue bulb...

Re: help with heating at night.

a night drop is not necessary for your captive animals. its better to have 24/7 constant temps than to turn off the lights at night and get all your animals sick.

I don't want to leave the light on

Re: help with heating at night.

i cant imagine battery operater heater being very well for economical reasons.the batteries would die so fast. but i use a little floor heater i picked up at the hardwear store for like $17 and i plug it in the wall. its just got a dial on it so i turned it checked the room with a thermometer and when i found the spot on the dial that inturn makes the temp in the room im shoting for, i marked it with a black felt cheep yet efficient. i kept the thermomiter in their so everyday im in their i check it make sure everything is good.

Re: help with heating at night.

soudns like a good idea Freebody, the only thing... the snakes are kept in my lil walk in closet... but i supose i could put the heater in the main room, and keep the closet door open, and the main door shut....

when i get my own place ( april 11 ) i will probably just put a small heater in the room with a thermometer...
