My first Leopard Gecko

I got my first Leopard Gecko yesterday. He or she is a juvenile. I have a few question. For the calcium I use Fluker's Cricket Feed. I want to make sure thats a good brand. I feed him everyday and I feed him about 5 or 6 small to medium crickets. If you guys have any advice for me on taking care of this little guy that would be great because I just want him to be happy

Re: My first Leopard Gecko

Grats! wecome to the world of geckos. i got a few cresties here from a few months back and they are sweet. i want to get a couple leos as well but not in the cards at but ill get some when i got more room for the cage. i read fluckers is good i use it for dusting my crickets but for leos you can put a small cap full in the cage and they will lick it up when needed not 100% about the cresties as i feed them just rapashy mix and they dont seem to be interested in crickets or mealworms. mealworms are a treat for them, you should add them to your leos diet once a week or 2 if you like as long as they are not getting to fat.i use fluckers calcium with vit d3 already added in. do i even need to ask for pics at this point ? lol

Re: My first Leopard Gecko

The Flukers cricket food is good but you might want to dust them as well with calcium powder. Thought I found when you feed crickets calcium it only gives them a few more days to live so as soon as you gut load them with a food with high calcium be sure to feed them as soon as you can. I also find it a lot easier to just leave a bowl full of dusted mealworms in with them as their main staple food and I only occasionally feed crickets(never had an overweight problem with any animal that eats meal worms as long as it's not the ONLY food you give them). Leos absolutely love moist hides so I would always keep one in with them. I have about 4 hides in a 20 gallon tank with them. The more hides the better, as it gives them more choices and they will hide wherever they prefer, like in a hide with with humidity, higher/lower temp, etc.
