Dwarf

Okay my bp is 2 years old and is still just1 1/2 ft... My friend has a ball too younger and hers is about 3 1/2 feet. Is it possible to get a dwarf? Just wondering. He eats normally. Sheds in one piece everything seems normal except his size. I have had him for almost year now and he has only shed a few times. Is that normal?

Re: Dwarf

May be worht just posting your temps/humidity/size of viv etc - might get some hints or tips if something is almost right but not spot on??

Our BP is 2months old (or just over) and is hitting 12inches already.

Re: Dwarf

There are no dwarf ball pythons as far as I know. I would be bumping him up in prey size. I have 2 2009 BPs and they eat full-size mice or rat pups. I also have an early '09 girl who eats rat weanlings (about the size of large mice). At 2 years, he should definitely be taking large adult mice or small rats. Please do post descriptions/pictures of his conditions, and get him up on prey size. BPs can take surprisingly large prey items with no ill effects. At a foot and a half long he should be able to take a small adult mouse.

For the most part this is correct. I would only add that at after the first feeding or two the snake should be switched to rat pups. Makes life easier going forward.

At a foot and a half long he should be on rat pups - small rats depending on the actual girth of the snake.

Re: Dwarf

Last week (still assist feeding unfortunately!) Monty took a Pinky (assisted) a rat pup (follow on) and then another rat pup which was lift in his faunarium to see if he would "hunt" it.

He is very close to strike feeding now - fingers crossed for this weeks feed!!
