Greetings from the PacNW

Hi. My name is Irish, and am married to my husband, Zwack (hereafter known as "Z"). We keep several corn snakes (with a Mexican Black Kingsnake due for arrival next week), among other pets which include parrots (mostly large macaws), dogs (Border Collies and Pomeranians), and fish (freshwater community tank). It is my hope to purchase a high red or high orange BRB within the next couple of months, and so I will be perusing this site for as much useful information about their husbandry needs, reputable breeders, and problem solving issues as I can find :-).

From what I can tell so far, this is going to be a great place to find that info :-).

Re: Greetings from the PacNW

Thanks, guys. I'll put up pix of the beasties every now and again, I'm sure. In fact, the pix of the birds will be listed in my siggy if I ever get around to making it, here :-).

Shaun, my husband is from Scotland. Born in Glasgow, raised in Edinburgh. We were married there, in fact. I don't know a lot about Fife, though (passed through it on our way to our honeymoon, but that's about it) except what I can glean from the Rebus books by Ian Rankin :-).

Sean, I have several, mostly Scarlets and Scarlet x BG multi-gen hybrids (Camelots and Capris), but I also have a BG, a Severe and a Hyacinth. All pets--I don't breed them (which is good, since all but one of them are males :-). Your cerebral Greys are a whole world away from these party animal drama queen macaws! LOL!

The Raven is a very intelligent bird.

I know a guy with one, make fantastic captives.

Yeah i have heard they are very intelligent and take well to captivity. As i seen some picture and videos of a guy over here with his and they would follow him around aswell as call out for him when he got home or left. They are amazing birds that are very underated, i cant wait to get mine. As soon as i finish the monster cage out the back.

Re: Greetings from the PacNW

I've ALWAYS wanted a Raven (or a Magpie :-)!

Here is a pic of probably the prettiest 3rd gen hybrid macaw (called a Capri) that I've ever seen. He's also mine :-). His name is Bowie. A good friend of mine has both of his sisters, one of whom looks VERY much like Bowie....

And here is Patrick--probably my favorite of all of my macaws. He's a 2nd gen hybrid called a Camelot. He loves his mommy :-):

For some reason, everyone always wants to see my Hy, Mikey Blue :-):

Rowan, one of my purebred Scarlets, is without a doubt the sweetest of all of my birds--and the only female in the bunch. The bird behind her is Bowie. They're in love :-):

These guys are Bob and Arthur. Bob, the Blue and Gold, is the most photogenic bird in the house. His Greenwing buddy, Arthur, is without a doubt the most intelligent:

I'll stop there. I wouldn't want to bore anyone :-).

Re: Greetings from the PacNW

Hyacinths are so beautiful. Shame they're dumb as stumps though =(

I used to have a blue and gold myself. Had to get rid of him when I went to college.

I can't imagine living with so many macaws though, I lived in the country, and had neighbors from half a mile away complain about the noise at sunrise.
